Privacy
The tool sends nothing. The site counts page views.
No cookies, no trackers, no profile of you, nothing sold to anybody. There is no banner to click away because there is nothing here you would need to consent to. The detail is below, and it is short.
The tool
augur runs on your machine and sends nothing anywhere. Your files are not uploaded, not queued, not sampled, and never opened for writing. There is no telemetry, no usage ping, no crash reporting, and no account to make.
The one command that touches the network is augur upgrade, which asks GitHub for the newest release and verifies its checksum before writing. Nothing about you or your files goes with that request.
This website: what is counted
Cloudflare Web Analytics records that a page was requested: which page, where the request was referred from, the rough country it came from, and the kind of browser and device. That is a counter, and it is the whole of the analytics here.
It is cookieless. Cloudflare works out how many visits those views add up to without putting an identifier in your browser, so nothing follows you from page to page or from one visit to the next, and there is no profile of you here to look at.
What is stored on your device
One entry, and only if you use the light and dark toggle: a browser storage key named theme, holding the word light or dark, so the site does not flash the wrong colours at you on the next page. It never leaves your browser, and clearing site data removes it.
Nothing else is written. No cookies, from this site or from anyone.
What this site does not do
No advertising, no ad networks, no trackers from other companies, no session recording, no heatmaps, no A/B tests, no newsletter, no forms, no accounts, no comments. Every font, image, video and script is served from this domain, so loading a page tells no third party that you read it. Nothing collected here is sold, shared or handed to anyone.
The legal part, briefly
The basis for the page counter under GDPR is legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f): knowing which of these pages get read. There is no consent banner because there is nothing here that needs consent - the counter stores nothing on your device, and the theme preference is one you set on purpose.
The site is hosted by Cloudflare, who process the requests as part of serving it and act as processor for the analytics. Their privacy policy covers what they see as a network. Anything else, including a request to see or delete what is held about you, goes to the author.
